About Bflow: where science, technology and application comes together

BFlow is a science-driven company focused on the development of Organ-on-Chip devices and services. We work at the intersection of engineering, life sciences and translational innovation, helping research teams create platforms adapted to their specific technical and biological objectives.

Our approach is collaborative and application oriented. Rather than offering standard solutions, we work closely with each project to understand its challenges and develop systems that are aligned with real experimental needs. This allows us to support a wide range of research applications with solutions that combine flexibility, functionality, and scientific relevance.

Leadership and core team

GENERAL MANAGER

Mr. Enrique Sánchez

MSc in Biology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and MBA from IESE Business School, Enrique Sánchez is an internationally experienced director with a strong track record in delivering growth across Life Science companies. He brings more than 25 years of experience in business development, strategic planning and international markets.

Throughout his career, he has held management positions at companies such as Werfen Group, Menarini Diagnostics and Biomedal. His leadership combines business vision, sector expertise and international perspective, contributing to BFlow’s strategic growth and positioning.

CHIEF SCIENTIFIC OFFICER

Dr. Andrés Da Silva

Dr. Andrés Da Silva has a background in Biotechnology, a master’s degree in Neurosciences and a PhD in Biology (Cum Laude) from the University of Santiago de Compostela. His scientific career includes experience at institutions such as the University of California and Harvard, with a focus on microfluidics, nanomedicine and cell biology applied to preclinical models.

At BFlow, he leads R&D projects and builds collaborations with academic and industrial partners. His profile bridges fundamental research with the development of applications that aim for clinical and commercial relevance.

DESIGN & MANUFACTURING MANAGER

Dr. Elías Ferreiro

Dr. Elías Ferreiro holds a PhD in Applied Physics and is an expert in nanotechnology and optical materials. He brings more than 15 years of research experience, including postdoctoral work at CSIC in Madrid, CIQUS in Santiago and DQMP in Geneva.

His scientific career has contributed to more than 1,000 citations according to Google Scholar, with an h-index of 15. At BFlow, he brings precision, technical depth and advanced fabrication expertise to the design and manufacturing of microfluidic solutions.

BIOLOGICAL VALIDATION

Andrea Balsa

Andrea Balsa holds a degree in Biology from the University of A Coruña and a master’s degree in Biomedical Research from the same institution. Her training includes research experience in neuroscience and motor control, as well as additional education in bioinformatics.

She has developed expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques through research stays at the Functional Nanobiomaterials group at CINBIO and the Experimental Neurology of Parkinson’s Disease group at CIMUS. At BFlow, she contributes to the biological validation of solutions and their adaptation to experimental requirements.

DESIGN & MANUFACTURING DEPARTMENT

Patricia Hermida Sestayo

Graduated in Biology, with an Interuniversity Master’s Degree in Biofabrication and experience as an analysis and quality control technician, she has a multidisciplinary background focused on innovation.
She is currently pursuing an Industrial PhD in Molecular Medicine, combining academic research with technological application.

Her project, “Intelligent Microfluidics for the Isolation of Extracellular Vesicles”, focuses on the development of novel tools for biomedical applications.

BIOLOGICAL VALIDATION DEPARTMENT

Rocio Cordeiro Rey

Rocío holds a degree in Biotechnology from the University of Santiago de Compostela and a Master’s Degree in Biofabrication from the University of A Coruña. She has experience in cellular and molecular biology applied to neuroscience, as well as in the design and biological validation of microfluidic and organ-on-a-chip devices, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Molecular Medicine.

FINANCE MANAGER

María Victoria Ruiz Persia

María Victoria Ruiz Persia holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Santiago de Compostela and is a CPA from the University of Buenos Aires. She has more than 15 years of experience in corporate accounting, auditing, financial planning and finance.

Her background includes roles at PWC, Walmart and Telecom Argentina. At BFlow, she oversees budgeting, forecasting, reporting, strategic financial analysis and cash flow optimization, bringing strong financial expertise and an international outlook to the company.

COFOUNDER

Prof. Dr. Alberto P. Muñuzuri

Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Department of Physics, Alberto P. Muñuzuri is Head of the Nonlinear Physics Group and a frequent collaborator with universities in Germany, France, Argentina and the USA. His research interests include fluid dynamics, microfluidics, modelling biophysics and pattern formation in complex systems.

His background provides deep expertise in the physical principles that underpin advanced microfluidic systems and dynamic biological modelling.

COFOUNDER

Prof. Dr. Maite Flores

Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Department of Physics, Optics Area, Maite Flores leads the Photonics4Life Research Group. She is also Vice-President of the Imaging Committee of the Spanish Society of Optics, Secretary of the European Optical Society and coordinator of the USC Laser Laboratory for Acceleration and other applications.

Her expertise includes laser material processing, fluidic devices, nonlinear optics and the fabrication of preclinical devices based on laser technologies, contributing strongly to BFlow’s technological development.

COFOUNDER

Dr. Ezequiel Álvarez

Dr. Ezequiel Álvarez is a researcher at the Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (IDIS) and a part-time professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Technology. He is also a member of CIBERCV in Madrid.

His research interests include endothelial dysfunction, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular pharmacology, hemodynamics, microfluidics and endothelial progenitor cells, bringing strong translational value to BFlow’s scientific foundation.

COFOUNDER

Dr. María Aymerich

Dr. María Aymerich is a researcher at the Diagnostic Imaging Group in Health Research Institute Galicia Sur and a member of the Photonics4Life group at the University of Santiago de Compostela. She earned her PhD in laser microstructuring for biomedical applications and holds a Master’s degree in Photonics and Laser Technologies.

Her work has been recognised with the Young Scientific Award from the Royal Academy of Sciences for Galicia for her research in the fabrication of preclinical devices using laser technologies for cardiovascular studies. Her expertise strengthens BFlow’s capabilities in laser fabrication, material processing and microfluidic device development.
